Fifa ordered to explain World Cup ticket pricing

The attorneys general of New York and New Jersey have launched an official investigation into Fifa's ticket pricing practices for the 2026 World Cup, alleging the organization artificially inflated prices and misled fans. Fifa has been subpoenaed to provide information and explain why 2026 ticket prices have exceeded those of any previous World Cup, with allegations that variable pricing across sales phases raised prices for about 90 of 104 fixtures by an average of 34%. The investigation will also examine claims that fans were misled about seat locations and whether Fifa's ticket release schedule and public statements artificially impacted pricing.
