'We had people come just to see it': Amazon delivers its first UK parcels by drone

Amazon has launched its first UK drone delivery service in Darlington, County Durham, delivering packages under 5lb containing items like beauty products and batteries within a 12km radius of its fulfillment center. The unmanned aircraft can complete up to 100 deliveries per day, dropping parcels from 12 feet onto customers' properties, with current UK delivery times of two hours compared to 36 minutes in the US. Amazon plans to gradually expand the service, believing customers want faster delivery options for everyday needs.
